As part of the 7th edition of “Giving Circles Albania,” organized by Partners Albania, SiCRED joined another inspiring initiative that brings attention to the voices of those who are too often unheard — people with disabilities.
In the city of Mat, over 800 people with disabilities face daily challenges that often go unnoticed. To give voice and space to their stories, the “Together” Foundation created the project “The Listening Bench”, a unique intervention in the city’s public spaces.
This initiative turns ordinary benches into places that speak, through QR codes placed on them, where citizens can listen to real stories of people with disabilities — stories that inspire, raise awareness, and build bridges of understanding within the community.
By combining technology with urban design, “The Listening Bench” becomes a powerful tool for education and awareness about accessibility and social inclusion. It is the first space of its kind in Albania, merging urban design with human storytelling, transforming the city into a more open and inclusive place.
